Newlyn Herb Classes
Welcome to the landing page for my herb classes, all held in person in Newlyn Cornwall. The best way to be in the loop about whats happening and new classes is to email me so I can add you to the very low key email list - Sashasideways@yahoo.com
I like to hold a class on a Saturday and then an evening class during the week. All classes cost £20 and last about 2 hours.
June is just around the corner and despite the bad weather the elderflowers are blooming! I will be doing an early June class where we make potions and medicines, cordials and ferments that are all about Elder. then later in the month we will move to rose. Stay tuned!

Fermenting local greens and herbs
May 9th, Saturday,
10:30am - 12:30 pm
Newlyn £20
Excited to start making herbal medicine?
Join me as we wander the garden, discover and identify our local nutrient rich wild herbs and then collaborate in the kitchen on the best ways to create flavorful and healthy concoctions and ferments that you can enjoy everyday
We will look at the properties and actions of the various herbs on offer so that we can understand how the taste, colour, smell and other indications inform us of the plants’ medicine- the key to understanding the foundations of traditional western herbalism. We will be diving into lacto-ferments using our wild greens for kimchi and krauts and soda “bugs”
This is the health care that grows out of the ground and knowing your local herbs gives you access to excellent quality control without it costing an arm and a leg. All you need is time to slow down, gather with friends, and make medicine that we can enjoy and preserve their goodness all year round.
Join us for a hands-on day of kitchen cunning, playing with fresh spring tonics, easy ferments, and more…

Healing our digestion with dandelion and dock
May 13th
Wednesday 7pm -9pm
Newlyn £20
In this medicine making intensive we will be doing a deep dive with 2 of our most powerful gut healers that are growing all around us - Dandelion and Dock.
We will identify and harvest from the garden covering proper techniques as well as look alikes so we will be able to collect this medicine with confidence.
we will explore the relationship that these two roots have with our digestion, liver and kidneys, discussing the connection between poor metabolism including leaky gut sibo, colitis and diverticulitis. We will understand how ineffective metabolisation results in fatigue, low energy, depression, low iron uptake, bone health, chronic auto immune issues and food intolerances.
We will be debunking some nutritional myths - does it really cure cancer? - and delving into the depths of how the medicine really works, so that we can get the most from our food as medicine.
Join us for this evening of kitchen magic where we will be creating an iron-full syrup based around dock and figuring out how to actually love and use dandelion despite its bitter edge.
