What's Knocking on the Door?
"I have always noticed that discipline is the unpinning of a good practice and yet I have rarely respected myself enough to undertake excellence in this way"
Greetings lovelies, a happy new year, some quick updates and even some exciting news! And what a year it has been for me, as you can probably tell with so little time constructed around the keyboard. This year promises a somewhat different flavour and hopefully a little closer relationship with you.
As some of you know my year ended with a bang as my husband suffered a stroke that left him with severe apraxia. So although we are feeling blessed to be alive, present and here, we are a-tuning to this new somatic conversation. The best way I can describe it is summed up by this incredible poem by David Whyte
So plans stalled, looking inward and cherishing each other are the gifts of the day and although we got lots of support around the emergency we have very little help around follow up care, so in the now American tradition I am including a link to my husbands go fund me for speech therapy and herbs and supplements and alternative care.

Meanwhile in reciprocity I am offering new year tarot reads that have been a lot of fun and honestly such a happy place for me, to be in service to the oracle and you lovelies. Any chance to step away from my opinions. Ha. As you know I have a lot of them! The reading is a simple 5 card spread that will give you a flavour of how to navigate the year to come, take up to 30 mins and are absolutely free of charge but full of wisdom. The offer is open all this January so go ahead and book yourself one now following the link below

However the most exciting news is that I have been given permission to throw caution to the wind and be an artist. The building projects, the practical manifestation of ongoing finances, the energetical projection of tangible growth has been shoved aside for a year of being true to my spirit and open to the fates. This might seem like a go fuck it all and a somewhat irresponsible caution to the wind indulgence but it’s not. Its a challenge to face one of the things I am most avoidant of and have grappled with my whole life and that is bringing in and embracing discipline.
I have always noticed that discipline is the unpinning of a good practice and yet I have rarely respected myself enough to undertake excellence in this way. And now it’s knocking on the door. I can no longer teach and inspire and hold a spiritual truth without having a firm practice in place. The haphazard approach has run its corse, has released the chaff and I know my alignment. Time to exercise the muscle in a regular way and see how it grows. Which reminds me that the best way to begin a discipline is to put it in your body. So wish me blessings on the wind.
Meanwhile that means showing up a little more for myself and being messy about it. After all thats all part of the practice! Which brings me to the herb hunter. I was reminded by a new subscriber - (thankyou!) that I used to have this little radio show, the herb hunter on KSER, Washingtons only independent radio station.
Its hard for me, because there are so many things I would change, improve, correct etc about this show that I get left standing still and stagnant. However my subscriber’s kind words reminded me of how much this show was loved in the local community and so I’m going to re release here for you on substack every week flaws and all. It’s essentially a 5 minute wander through the wilderness, a literal updates from the undergrowth about my wild crafting practice and the medicine that I gathered from this good earth and all the magic that came with that particular practice that I cherish and hold dear.
It will do me good, to be sending this thread of connection your way, dear reader, even in all its roughness and I hope in turn it brings questions, curiosities and connection back.
Much love and sweet wishes for the new year
Natasha
